Sina Entertainment Interview 2
(November 2, 2005)

Sina: Thank you for agreeing this interview to take place.
Katie: No, I should thank you.

Sina: These are all questions you fans want to ask you. Which do you like better? HP books or movies?
Katie: Um...This is a interesting question. Well it depends on the situation. The books HP are very famous, it's written very well and it's just a great book. I love reading them. But I don't know how to compare them. These movies are also very popular and famous, and I act in one of these films, so I like the movies a bit more. It's...these are two different things, there's no way to really compare them. They're all very good.

Sina: In this film, there's a dancing scene, what do you think of it? Did you prepare for anything for this scene?
Katie: Oh, this is my favorite part of the movie! It's the Yule Ball. We had to have dance lessons. In the beginning was very ahrd. The Champions dance was very hard! I thought we would never able to get it. And there was Cedric and Cho which was Robert and I. We sucked. (laughs)

Sina: Really?
Katie: Really! We were just the worse! But that whole scene was the best...it was like magic! They made the Great Hall turn into a Christmas mood and when we were filming it, it was Christmas so we were all ready to celebrate it there. All the girls had beautiful dresses on and makeup. Um..it's just like having a dance. To girls especially, we love this scene. I don't know how the boys felt though.

Sina: It looks like you already answered the next question. The question is, what is your favorite scene?
Katie: Oh this one! Actually, I really like a lot of other ones but the Yule Ball scene was just fantastic!

Sina: Then, what were some difficulties in this film?
Katie: Um..the most difficulty..it's probably when I met with the HP crew. When I first saw them, I was so scared. I was also very nervous. But not for too long, we became friends. And because we were around the same age, it's pretty easy to hang out with each other. After that, it was very smooth. I'm saying, everything was great except when I first came since I was very nervous. Oh, we also had to take diving lessons for the Second Task. We had that for a couple of weeks, that was a big challenge for me since I never knew how to dive. But it was pretty interesting, I liked it.

Sina: You said that it was pretty easy to start making friends with them. Is there any behind the scenes? Who was your best friend during the filming?
Katie: I have a lot of great friends. It's just like, the girls usually hung out together since girls like to talk and we had a lot of common places. We film throughout the whole day, if we're not, we just keep on talking. Yeah, we're like that. I'm friends with everyone, there's not a specific one that I'm extra close to. And I'm also friends with the people that are a bit older than me and the new actors because we were all chosen for this film and to us HP [the film] is a bit new.

Sina: Do you have any stories you would like to share with us?
Katie: Stories..um. There was this one scene at the Yule Ball. I was one of the champions' dance partner. We had to first walk down the dance floor. The floor was very slippery and very clear. I was wearing high heels and thank goodness the cameramen hadn't turn to the dance floor yet so it didn't film me. But I really did slip but good thing I grabbed onto Robert and didn't fall (laughs). I almost really did fall in front of everyone. That was really embarrassing.

Sina: But it came out pretty nice right? The whole scene?
Katie: Yes, after filming it, I felt great! I finished watching the movie two days ago and it was just....great. The special effects..the Yule Ball, that scene was just...

Sina: We're all very excited to see that part of the film. Can you tell us what kind of ideal boyfriend you would want? Like Harry? Cedric? Or someone else?
Katie: Um, actually someone asked me a similar question like this. Is Harry my idea of a boyfriend? I think...he's a very complicated character. And plus, he has so much things to do, doesn't really have time for girls. In this one, he has to fight dragons, and fight Voldemort and try and win the Triwizard tournament. I think he won't have time for a girl like me (laughs). But for my idea of a boyfriend..well the most important thing is that he was to have a sense of humor, he can make me laugh. And this is also very important, he has to be smarter than me and he can give make me feel secure.

Sina: After acting as Cho Chang, do you think it's a interesting exprience? Or is it the beginning of your acting carrer?
Katie: I'm now thinking about my job for the future. I'm still young so I'm not really in a hurry to make a choice. I'm thinking..um..after I filmed HP, the experience was very great and fun but I don't know if I would keep on acting just because of this film. And I don't know if other films would be as interesting as HP. So..I don't have a definite answer yet because I want to go to a university. I'm still thinking about it.

Sina: I see. I asked this because we saw articles saying you're getting ready to stop going to school and focusing on acting more.
Katie: That's absolutely not true.

Sina: Thank you for clearing it up. Having a Chinese background, what do you think of China? Have you ever been to [Mainland] China?
Katie: No, I never went to [Mainland] China! I know that really sucks but after a couple weeks from now I will. I'm going to go to China to promote the film. And at that time, I'll go to China; Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, I'm really excited. I really should've gone to [Mainland] China a long time ago. It's just I never had a chance. I'm looking forward to it!

Sina: That's great! We hope to see you here!
Katie: All of you are great, very welcoming....if I'm going, it'll be a great experience. I'm really wishing to see you guys soon!

Sina: Great! Over here, you're a big star. Everyone's talking about Cho Chang, talking about Katie, you!
Katie: Wow! I'm a bg star over there? I hope they like my performance as Cho Chang.

Sina: What do you think made Harry like Cho? What does he like of her?
Katie: Um...I think Harry mostly likes Cho by her looks because he doesn't really understand what kind of a girl Cho is like, he just mostly likes her because of her looks. But I think she's a very kind and friendly person. It's just that Harry never had a chance to understand that part of her. When Cedric died, Harry finally knows what kind of person she is. After that, her whole personality chances, she becomes very moody. The time wasn't right.

Sina: Will you appear in the next film?
Katie: I hope so. I'm not sure weather or not yet. But I'll be happy to act in the next one. In the next one, Cho's character is more that in this one. The most difficulty is to take a very nice person into a crybaby and a bit annoying girl. This to me is a challenge. I hope I'll protray it well.

Sina: Excited for the next film?
Katie: Exactly!

Sina: Ok, we'll stop now. You're probably very busy today so we won't bother you anymore time.
Katie: Thank you so much.

Sina: Thank you for taking time for this interview. Your fans will be very happy!
Katie: You're welcome. When I arrive in China, I'll get to meet with everyone, I'm really excited and I hope everyone will like the movie!

Sina: Would you like to say anything to the Chinese audience?
Katie: I hope you'll like this film and I hope everyone will like my performance. You'll definetely love this film and I'm really excited to meet you all.

Sina: Thank you. Would you like to dance with us after you arrive?
Katie: Of course! (laughs)

Sina: Thank you!
Katie: Thank you so much, take care bye!

Sina: Bye!
