Designer marks 10-year anniversary
Fashion designer Matthew Williamson has celebrated a decade in the industry by hosting a star-studded bash to launch a retrospective exhibition of his colourful designs. The 35-year-old British designer entertained celebrity pals including Thandie Newton, Holly Willoughby, Francesca Versace and Harry Potter star Katie Leung at a special private viewing at London's Design Museum. Manchester-born Matthew said: "I think if you're passionate about your work then the rest sort of falls into place so I'm very fortunate that I still love what I do after ten years." Matthew Williamson: 10 Years In Fashion runs until the end of January and showcases his dresses and sketches as well as a specially commissioned film. The exhibition covers his career from a student in London to his appointment as creative director of Emilio Pucci and his most recent self-titled collection. Soon after starting out in 1997, Kate Moss and Jade Jagger had agreed to model his designs. Matthew added: "I hope the exhibition will show that celebrity endorsement is kinda like the cherry on the cake to a huge amount of work by a large team of people. "It's definitely not the reason why we do it, it's just a really nice endorsement if somebody does want to wear your clothes." » Back |
