You may remember a while ago I posted a rough translation of Katie’s newest fanmail and fanmail response. Thanks to Kerry we’ve had someone look over it with fresh eyes and come up with a new-updated translation! Thanks again to the combined efforts of Kerry and Vanessa!

Dear Fans,

Many heartfelt thanks for your letters and support! I’m very sorry you had to wait for such a long time before you could receive a reply from me.

Let me tell you a secret. This summer, I toured China and Hong Kong, which was a real eye-opener – especially China, which has such an amazing and diverse culture. This trip broadened my horizons, and made me feel more intimate and closer to my home.

This year has been very special indeed, mainly because China was selected to be the host of the 2008 Olympics. The opening ceremony coincided with my birthday as well, which made it even more significant. I sat at home in front of the television every day, as a gesture in support of our Chinese athletes. Whenever it was time for their event to begin, I couldn’t help but shout, “Jiayou!”. I truly feel immensely proud of China.

(Interesting note: A direct translation of “jia you” would mean “add fuel” in English. Jia = add, you (pronounced as ‘yoe’)= oil/fuel. Since ‘add fuel’ doesn’t exactly make sense in English, it just means “Go!” Chinese is indeed a very interesting language)

Since my last trip to China where I was promoting the Harry Potter film, I didn’t know a single Chinese word, which made me feel very ashamed. I wasn’t able to communicate with you, and I do hope you’ll forgive me for that! Because of this however, I have been learning Chinese for quite some time now, and I hope that in our future meetings, we will be able to share a common language. Now, I am truly able to appreciate my Chinese roots, and feel honored and proud of being Chinese!

I will definitely try my best in mastering the Chinese language, and I am definitely visiting China and Hong Kong more often in the near future. I do hope I will get to meet you once more there! I would like to say a huge “thank you” once again, I truly appreciate your efforts and support.

Talk more next time!

Wishing you happiness everyday

Yours truly,

As you can see, Katie news is a bit slow, but never fear – there is plenty of behind-the-scenes work going on here at Katie Leung Fan! Some of you would love to hear, I’ve finally started work on the video archive – there’s only 12 or so videos at the moment, but it’s growing, promise!

Fanlisting Update

Hey guys! I just want to let you know that we’re having problems with the fanlisting and it seems that I can’t convert the members list so I’m going to have to add members back manually. I’ll be doing this within the next few hours and you’ll be able to join soon. Also, expect a new layout! :)

I’ll edit this update when I have completed the conversion.

EDIT: The fanlisting has been converted and there’s a new layout (let me know what you think!) I will now, over the course of the rest of the day, be adding members back slowly but surely.

Katie and Bonnie audition for roles in ‘St Trinian’s’ sequel?

Thanks to a tip from Kristi, we have been informed that both Potter-girls Katie Leung and Bonnie Wright have auditioned for roles in the upcoming sequel to St. Trinian’s, which featured Rupert Everett, Colin Firth and up-and-coming British stars Gemma Arterton and Talulah Riley. Direct from the source:

Katie Leung (and also Bonnie Wright) have auditioned for a sequel to St. Trinian’s, a project due to film this summer. Many young actresses are being considered for roles in St. Trinian’s 2 due to the original cast being busy doing other projects. Nothing is set in stone of course, it’s just interesting that they have been considered!

More gallery updates, plus update on media archive

Sorry about the lack of activity recently. To make up for it, I’ve added more than 50 new photos to the gallery. They’re medium quality (unfortunately) but Katie looks absolutely adorable in them, so that kinda makes up for it, right? The pictures span from 2005 – 2008. Check out our latest uploads here, or follow the image prompts below.

A word on the media archive: it has been put on hold until I get a bit more time. I’m still in the process of trying to figure out what (and if) script to use, how to present it and all that jazz. I ask that you be patient, and anyone who would like to help, please do not hesitate to email me with your thoughts, suggestions, ideas and contributions! (The site email, if you have forgotten, is katieleungfan.com@gmail.com!)
